Orange Julius, a popular after-school snack here, can be made in any type of blender, and its classic, indulgent flavors are always a treat.
Orange Julius has been a part of my life forever, really. My older sister made them for us all the time growing up, and over the years we must have consumed gallons and gallons of this frothy, orange, cool, creamy concoction.
My kids, thanks to their innate Orange Julius-loving genes, love the classic blend, and our entire family’s adoration has been rekindled since our newest family member, BlendTech, joined us.
A popular after-school snack here, Orange Julius can be made in any type of blender or blendek, and its delicious, classic flavors always seem to please my kids (and, of course, me).
Enjoyed year-round, if you ask me, everyone needs a classic Orange Julius recipe in their repertoire!
Classic Orange Julius
Makes: 4-6 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes minutes
Materials needed
- 6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate, no sugar added
- 1 cup skim or low-fat milk
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 10-12 ice cubes
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except ice cubes in a blender and process until smooth and frothy.
- Add ice cubes and blend until smooth (you can blend until you get the desired consistency – I like a few ice cubes here and there, but my kids like it very smooth).
Notes
Strawberry variation: Our favorite variation (though not the most original) is to add some fresh or frozen strawberries to the mix. Strawberry-orange julius. Inventive, isn’t it?
